Q. What is the difference between 2cm and 3cm granites?
A. 2cm = 3/4" and 3cm = 1 1/4" thickness. The 2cm thick granite can be used for bathroom vanity countertops and fireplace hearths and surrounds. It can also be used for kitchen countertops in some cases but in most scenarios we recommend 3cm thickness for kitchens. The 3cm thick granite makes a much better visual statement in a kitchen and is more structurally sound. The 2cm thickness granite CANNOT be used in any areas where there is a large overhang on countertops.
Q. Will there be seams in my granite countertops?
A. The size of your selected granite slabs and the layout of your project will determine how many seams will be necessary for your project. Our installers are skilled craftsmen and do an excellent job at installing seams that are level and color matched to your granite. We can show you samples of seams in our showroom.
Q. Do I have to seal my granite countertops?
A. All granites and other types of natural stones need to be sealed on a regular basis. 15 year sealers are available for your countertops. Ask us about them today! Other stone sealers need to be applied every 6 months-1 year, depeding on the type of stone and its application in your home. These DuPont sealers are available for purchase in our showroom and can be reapplied each year by a capable homeowner. We also offer resealing and repair of your granite countertops.
Q. I keep hearing about radon in granite countertops. Is this something that I should be concerned about?
A. The Marble Institute of America has published several studies which show that any small radon levels that may be present in granite countertops are safe for food preparation. For more information on these studies, click on the link below.
Q. How do I know how much it will cost for granite countertops?
A. Simply visit our showroom in Florence, conveniently located only 3 miles from Florence Mall. Bring with you on your visit a basic sketch of your countertops with measurements. We will show you our wide selection of granite color options, assist you in choosing the color and style that is right for your home and work up a price estimate while you wait.
Q. But my measurements won't be exact. I don't want my new countertops not to fit!
A. Don't worry. Your simple sketch is just a basis for us to figure your price estimate. Before we cut anything for your new countertops, our highly experienced shop foreman will come to your home to take final measurements and/or make templates to ensure that you get a perfect fit.
Q. Can I choose my granite slab?
A. Absolutely! We highly encourage you to hand-select the exact granite slab that will be installed for your home. This process can be done directly at our showroom location in Florence, where you can choose from our vast selection of stocked granite slabs.
